Michael Thieme is among the biometric industry’s leading authorities on biometric system performance, privacy issues in biometrics, and comparative biometric technology capabilities. Mr. Thieme leads International Biometric Group project teams serving public and private sector clients, and has delivered extensive biometric technology evaluations to DHS, TSA, AAMVA, White House OSTP, California DMV, National Institute of Justice, Hong Kong Immigration Department, and dozens of leading technology and integration firms. Mr. Thieme is a co-author of Biometrics: Identity Verification in a Networked World and is the primary author of International Biometric Group’s Comparative Biometric Testing and Biometric Market and Industry Reports. Mr. Thieme is a co-founder of the BioPrivacy Initiative, a framework for objective evaluation of privacy risks in biometric deployments. Mr. Thieme is a member of INCITS Technical Committee M1, Biometrics. He also serves as a U.S. subject matter expert to the primary international biometric standards body, ISO/IET JTC1 SC37 Biometrics.
