Marisa Viveros is Director of Strategy, Wireless Broadband and Sensing Solutions, IBM Corporation. She is responsible for defining near and long-term growth opportunities in the pervasive and wireless market, including next generation wireless services and solutions. Her objective is to deliver superior offerings to customers through the Services Group, and by leveraging IBM software and hardware assets, along with an extensive network of partners. Prior to IBM, Ms. Viveros worked at Teradata as a Software Engineer where she was the lead designer for infrastructure linking parallel database machines with natural language systems and knowledge-based systems. She received an IBM Outstanding Innovation Award for her pioneer work in mobile commerce and an Outstanding Technical Award for her work in parallel systems. Most recently, Ms. Viveros was a panelist at Taking m-Commerce to the Max, sponsored by CTIA, and a panelist at “How can we make Wireless Work,” sponsored by Discover Magazine and the IEEE Communications Society. Ms. Viveros holds an MS degree in Computer Science from California State University and a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Universidad de Concepción, Chile. She is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery and ACM SIGMOBILE.
