Lorrainne Dixon is a privacy and information consultant. Her clients include provincial ministries, crown corporations, tribunals, private sector organizations, not for profit societies and the federal government. She has also provided advice to the government of Jamaica on its new Access to Information legislation. Her background and experience in both the information and privacy areas is extensive. She was the Executive Director of the Information and Privacy Commissioner’s Office of British Columbia for over eight years. Her responsibilities in that role included overseeing the professional staff, developing policies and procedures and responding to public bodies requests for assistance on difficult files. In that role she also spoke at many conferences and seminars in British Columbia and across Canada on information and privacy issues. Prior to going to the Information and Privacy Commissioner’s office she worked for the Provincial Ombudsman for eight years. Ms Dixon has a law degree from the University of Victoria, and articled for the Vancouver law firm of Owen, Bird.
